A Level 2 charger requires a dedicated 30 to 50 amp circuit depending on the model. If your panel has enough space and capacity (generally 200A recommended), installation is straightforward. It is a powerful backup solution (up to 10 kW) that can power a home for several days depending on the vehicle battery capacity.

For tenants, installation requires the landlord's consent. We can install a portable charger (NEMA 14-50) that is easily removable. In condominiums, Quebec's Bill 16 obliges syndicates to authorize charging station installation in private parking spaces, subject to reasonable technical conditions. A 40A (9.6 kW) charger provides approximately 45-50 km of range per hour, sufficient for most residential uses. A 48A (11.5 kW) charger offers 55-60 km/hour, useful for large vehicles or intensive use. However, the 48A charger requires a 60A circuit and more frequent panel upgrades. For standard residential use, the 40A offers the best performance/cost ratio.

Yes, Level 2 chargers use the standard SAE J1772 connector compatible with all electric vehicles sold in North America, including Tesla (with provided adapter), Chevrolet Bolt, Nissan Leaf, Hyundai Kona, Ford Mustang Mach-E, etc. The chargers we install are universal and work with all current and future models on the Quebec market.
