For efficient home charging, we recommend a Level 2 (240V) charging station with 30 to 48 amperes. It charges your vehicle 5 to 7 times faster than a standard 120V outlet. A 32A (7.2 kW) charger suits most vehicles and fully recharges a battery in 6 to 8 hours. For larger vehicles (F-150 Lightning, Hummer EV) or commercial use, a 48A (11.5 kW) charger is preferable. We assess your needs during our free site visit.
Total cost varies depending on the distance between your electrical panel and the charger location, as well as your existing electrical capacity. On average, expect between $800 and $2,500 for complete installation (charger + electrical work). With the Roulez Électrique subsidy from the Quebec government, you can receive up to $600 reimbursement for a smart residential charger. We provide a detailed no-obligation quote.
A Level 2 charger requires a dedicated 30 to 50 amp circuit depending on the model. If your panel has enough space and capacity (generally 200A recommended), installation is straightforward. If your panel is full or undersized (100A), we can install a dedicated sub-panel or proceed with an upgrade. During our evaluation, we check your electrical capacity and propose the best solution.
A V2H charger allows your electric vehicle to serve as a home battery. In case of a power outage, your car automatically powers your home. Certain models like the Ford F-150 Lightning, Nissan Leaf, or Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV offer this functionality. It is a powerful backup solution (up to 10 kW) that can power a home for several days depending on the vehicle battery capacity.
For tenants, installation requires the landlord's consent. We can install a portable charger (NEMA 14-50) that is easily removable. In condominiums, Quebec's Bill 16 obliges syndicates to authorize charging station installation in private parking spaces, subject to reasonable technical conditions. We assist condo owners in their steps with the board of directors.
A 40A (9.6 kW) charger provides approximately 45-50 km of range per hour, sufficient for most residential uses. A 48A (11.5 kW) charger offers 55-60 km/hour, useful for large vehicles or intensive use. However, the 48A charger requires a 60A circuit and more frequent panel upgrades. For standard residential use, the 40A offers the best performance/cost ratio.
Yes, Level 2 chargers use the standard SAE J1772 connector compatible with all electric vehicles sold in North America, including Tesla (with provided adapter), Chevrolet Bolt, Nissan Leaf, Hyundai Kona, Ford Mustang Mach-E, etc. The chargers we install are universal and work with all current and future models on the Quebec market.
Yes! The Roulez Électrique program from the Quebec government offers up to $600 reimbursement for the installation of a smart residential charger. For condos and businesses, higher amounts are available (up to $5,000 per charger for multi-unit buildings). We help you fill out subsidy applications and provide all required documents.
